Loose and Bagged Leaf Collection

Department of Public Works (DPW) leaf collection crews will be in neighborhoods picking up as many leaves from the street as possible between late October and early December.

Get leaves ready for collection day

Rake or bag loose leaves into the street on your collection day.

Remove your car from the street

Keep parked vehicles off the streets from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on your scheduled collection days.

Watch where you are raking loose leaves

Leaves should be placed at least 1 inch away from the curb and should always be raked away from storm drains.

Be careful about where and when you are raking loose leaves. Raking loose leaves into the street too early could lead to dangerous driving conditions and cause leaves to blowback onto neighborhood yards.

Leaves in containers must display a sticker

If you contain your leaves in a 20-32 gallon reusable container for pick up, you will need to place a City of Dearborn yard waste sticker on the containers. The sticker tells DPW crews that leaves are ready for collection.

Stickers are free. You can get a sticker by calling 313-943-2150 or visiting the Dearborn Administrative Center.

PARKING ORDERS DURING LEAF COLLECTION

Signs will indicate where collection is scheduled to begin

Residents should look for ample signage in each area where crews will be working, beginning with the Korte Subdivision. To ensure that leaves are ready for collection, residents are advised to rake their leaves into their street as soon as they see that signage has been posted in their neighborhood.

Vehicles must be removed from residential streets between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. while leaf collection signs are present in the area. Vehicles left on the street during leaf collection risk being ticketed or towed by police.

Signs are posted in both English and Arabic.
