Absentee voters in Dearborn to receive new, corrected ballot

Published Sept. 30, 2025

Voters in Dearborn who have received an absentee ballot for the Nov. 4, 2025, General Election will soon receive a new, corrected ballot from the City Clerk’s Office. The new ballots, required because of a print error, should be received by voters by Oct. 11.

Those voting during early voting, which begins on Oct. 25, or on Election Day Nov. 4, are not affected.

Last week, the City Clerk’s Office began mailing absentee ballots to registered voters on the City’s permanent absentee ballot list and to voters who requested one for this election.

The corrected ballot will be sent to voters in a blue and white envelope that will be clearly identifiable with a fluorescent green sticker with the text: "Please vote this updated ballot."

Voters who received the original ballot and have not submitted it to the Clerk are advised to wait to complete their ballot and, instead, use the corrected ballot sent by the Clerk’s Office.

Voters who have already submitted their completed ballot to the City Clerk’s Office will also receive a second, corrected ballot that they can fill out and submit. Upon receipt of the corrected and completed ballot, the originally submitted ballot will be spoiled by the Clerk’s Office.

If a voter does not submit a corrected ballot, the Clerk’s Office will still process their ballot accordingly.

Dearborn City Clerk George Darany stated, “Voters can be assured that the reprinted and corrected ballot will not have any effect on the security, accuracy, and results of the upcoming election. We are committed to ensuring that voters and the community at large are kept up to date on all of Dearborn’s election information.”
