City of Dearborn to hold community meeting on West Warren Ave Transformation Project

Published Sept. 4, 2025

Dearborn community members are invited to offer their perspective on the City of Dearborn’s ongoing West Warren Ave Transformation Project at an open meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Byblos Banquet Center, 7258 Chase Rd. This marks the second meeting of its kind to discuss the major roadway engineering project on Warren Ave that is funded through a $24.8 million Safe Streets for All grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud stated, “Warren Ave has long sustained a sizable portion of Dearborn’s small business economy. It is also a central transportation hub for the strong neighborhoods and communities along its stretch. As we look to modernize and increase safety along this vital roadway, we invite our residents to chart the future of this roadway with us.”

The Warren Avenue Transformation Project looks to thoughtfully redesign the roadway to meet traffic safety challenges that impact motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit, and local businesses. The project aims to implement a range of traffic safety solutions, including:

  • Reducing vehicle speeds and mitigating weaving traffic behaviors to enhance safety.
  • Constructing pedestrian walkways and shared use paths to improve connectivity throughout the corridor.
  • Improving safety and operations at intersections to enhance traffic flow and reduce crashes.
  • Installing green infrastructure features to mitigate flooding impacts and support citywide stormwater goals.
