Election workers needed in Dearborn leading up to the November General Election

The City of Dearborn hires election workers (also known as election inspectors) to assist at polling places and process absentee ballots on Election Day. The City of Dearborn trains and compensates election workers. 

To serve as an election worker, you must: 

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • If you are at least 18 years old, you must also be registered to vote in Michigan.
  • Computer proficiency is preferred.

The City of Dearborn pays all election workers for training, which will take place at the Dearborn Administrative Center, 16901 Michigan Ave, in the Council Chambers.

Training sessions offered:

  • Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 28 at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. 

Training Pay: $25

Applications may be returned to the City Clerk's Office in person at the Dearborn Administrative Center, 16901 Michigan Ave.

Serving as an Election Worker on Election Day

Election workers are needed to help operate polling places and process absentee ballots on Election Day for the Nov. 5, 2024, General Election. 

All election workers must stay at their assigned post until all work is completed. 

Serving at a Polling Place

Election workers at polling places help set up the polling place, verify voters' registration, issue assigned ballots, help voters submit their ballot into the tabulator, share "I Voted" stickers, and properly shut down the polling place when voting concludes. 

  • Hours: 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. (or until work is completed)
     
  • Pay: $245 for the day

Serving at the Absentee Ballot Receiving Board

Election workers at the receiving board assist with preparing absentee ballots to be tabulated, tabulating absentee ballots, and handling absentee ballots for required retention. 

Hours:  7 p.m. - 12 a.m. (Midnight) or until all work is completed 

Pay: $100 for the day

All election workers must stay at their assigned post until all work is completed.
