Effective July 1, 2024, Priority Waste is the city contractor for waste pick-up in Dearborn.
The City of Dearborn follows a schedule to collect trash, recycling, and yard waste every weekday.

Public Service Days begin March 3 and run through Dec. 8, 2025.
The City of Dearborn is transitioning between waste management providers, from GFL to Priority Waste. We understand that this transition has caused interruptions in trash, recycling, yard waste, and bulk pickup services across Dearborn. The City is actively working to resolve these issues. Those who routinely generate more trash for collection than what the standard gray trash cart will hold are required to order an additional trash cart through the City.

You will be billed a one-time fee of $60 for an additional cart. However, there is no extra charge for weekly pickup.
Yard waste must be placed in 20-32 gallon reusable containers that clearly display a yard waste sticker from the City of Dearborn or in paper yard waste bags on Public Service Days during trash collection. Containers and yard waste bags should be placed on the property easement on trash collection day.
Never place containers or bags in the street.
Residents can pick up free yard waste stickers at the Dearborn Administrative Center and all Dearborn Public Library branches, or by calling 313-943-2150.

Hazardous and construction materials, fuel, and ammunition will not be accepted for disposal at either the curbside or the DPW Yard.
Tires can only be accepted on designated tire collection days. Wayne County hosts several Household Hazardous Waste collection sites throughout metro Detroit during the summer months.

On the third Saturday of each month, residents can dispose of items at 2951 Greenfield at no cost from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Excessive quantities of trash, large or heavy bulk items, bundles of brush, carpet, and some appliances require a Special Pick-Up. A service fee will be charged for each special pickup coordinated through the City.
The City of Dearborn also offers a bulk collection program that is intended for standard household items that do not fit in a trash cart.
Household bulk items can be placed outside of your trash cart each week. A separate truck picks these items up by the end of your trash day.

To avoid a fee, Dearborn residents can dispose of items at the DPW yard, 2951 Greenfield at no cost on the third Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The City also hosts seasonal Shred Days to provide Dearborn residents with a free option to dispose of paper products. Residents can take advantage of Shred Day at the DPW Yard, 2951 Greenfield Rd, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the following days:
