Step 6: Certificate of Occupancy

A Certificate of Occupancy will be issued after a re-inspection has been performed, all noted violations have been corrected, required repairs have been made, and all fees have been paid.

When ready, the Certificate of Occupancy (C/O) for rental or non-owner occupied properties is automatically prepared by City of Dearborn staff and mailed to the property owner or their authorized representative.

Certificates will expire 3 years from the date of the first inspection. At that time, the property owner or their authorized representative will receive written notice when it is time to schedule the next inspection.

Please contact City of Dearborn staff to update any information between inspections at:  DBNRentals@dearborn.gov.
