Application Review & Candidate Assessment

The Human Resources Department manages the application review, hiring, and onboarding process for all job postings and new employees at the City of Dearborn.  

 

Depending on the role, the process of hiring for positions includes, but may not be limited to, the following: 

Application review
In-person, by phone, or virtual interviews
Writing or skills test
Seal

Hiring & Onboarding

When an offer is extended, the selected candidate is required to: 

Be subject to a criminal history check.
Complete a pre-employment, post-offer physical examination and drug test at the City’s expense.
Complete employment paperwork, including tax forms, employee data, etc.
Provide proof of legal presence and authorization to work in the United States, as required by federal immigration law.

Within the first three days of starting employment with the City of Dearborn, the selected candidate must present their proof of legal presence in the United States (i.e.: U.S. passport, approved I-94, Green Card, etc.) to the Human Resources Department.
