The Dearborn Department of Parks & Recreation offers countless classes, programs, activities, and events for all ages during every season. 


 

Group Excercise

At the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, we offer a diverse range of group exercise classes to suit every interest and fitness level. From high-rep, lower-weight training in Les Mills BODYPUMP and Sprint to the ballet, yoga, and Pilates-inspired movements of Barre, there's something for everyone. Boot Camp combines high-intensity cardio with bodyweight training, while Cycle offers a low-impact indoor biking experience. Options like Chair Yoga and Senior Strength & Swing Cise provide gentle yet effective workouts, while online classes ensure you can join in from anywhere.

BODYPUMP

This high rep, lower weight training utilizes time under tension and fatigue to generate muscular adaptation.

 

 

Body Sculpt

This class features exercises that use every muscle in your body! We use free weights and a variety of other equipment to strengthen your legs, arms, and core.

Barre

A combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. This class uses full range of motion movements that focus on posture, lengthening, and endurance by using high reps and lights weights.

 

Boot Camp

A combination of high intense cardio and body weight training moves that work the entire body. These moves include jumping jacks, push-ups, step-ups, squats and much more! Plan to sweat!

Cycle

An indoor biking experience! This class is great for those who can not do weight bearing activities. Our instructors tailor this class to the new and the advanced so everyone can ride together.

Chair Yoga

Flowing exercises that stretch muscles of the entire body—all done in a chair!

Deep Water

Deep water aerobics is a fun exercise option for those who have mastered basic swimming skills. Exercise at the deep end of the pool is an effective option for individuals working through minor injuries. Water buoyancy belts are used in this class.

Kettlebell

Kettlebells are weights that have a handle attached for momentum-based exercises. This class focuses on anaerobic exercises and intervals to improve strength and endurance.

Pilates

This class performs Pilates exercises both standing and on the floor using a mat. Exercises involve basic Pilate’s equipment such as a Pilates rings, resistance bands, oand weighted balls. Mat Pilates exercises are performed in a slow, controlled, precise manner and focus on core strength and breath work.

Online Classes

Must be pre-registered for via Glofox. Once you are registered, a link to join the virtual live class will be sent to your email address. Note that the link will be sent to the email address that is linked to your Glofox account.

Step + Core

A total-body, aerobic-conditioning workout using a platform/step. This class is filled with choreography and fun! Don’t miss it. P.S. The last 15 minutes will focus on core exercises.

Senior Strength & Swing Cise

All senior classes are low impact and use light weights with high repetitions to maintain overall strength and fitness. Some light cardio exercises are also included for a well rounded program. Chairs are provided for those who wish to do the exercises seated.

Senior Water/Water Exercise

Enjoy low-impact exercise in the water that will improve your overall endurance and strength. This is a great for those with joint pain.

SPRINT

Les Mills SPRINT is a short, intense style of training where the thrill and motivation comes from pushing your physical and mental limits. This high intensity, low impact workout utilizes an indoor bike to achieve fast results.

Zumba

An aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music.

Yoga

Inspired by the Iyengar Yoga tradition, this yoga class emphasizes alignment, the use of props (belts, blocks, chairs, wall), and an in-depth understanding of the body, breath and mind. Bring an open mind and be prepared to practice barefoot. Must be able to get up and down from the floor.
