Water Services

The City of Dearborn offers a variety of options for residents to pay their water bills, as well as water services related to the disconnection or installation of any water line to a residential or commercial building.

Connect, Disconnect, or Fix Water Service

Official requests must be submitted to the Department of Public Works Water and Sewerage Division for the disconnection or installation of any water line to a residential or commercial building. Residents may also call the division to assist with water and sewerage problems, such as water main breaks, broken water meters, or fire hydrant issues, leaks or relocation.

DIVDAT Kiosk

Located in the vestibule in the main entrance at the Dearborn Administrative Center or by downloading the app on your phone. 

Payment Drop-Off

The 24-hour payment drop box is located in the parking lot across from the main doors of the Dearborn Administrative Center.

View Bill & Pay Online

Pay a water bill at any time online with a credit card, debit card, or bank account transfer. 

Please note that a 3% processing fee will be charged for credit and debit card payments made online.

 

Effective Dec. 1, 2024, the City of Dearborn will accept water bill payments to be made online through DivDat and will no longer provide a water bill payment option in eSuite. Residents can still view previous water bills and account records through eSuite, but can't submit an online payment through this service. 

Pay By Mail

Water bills may be paid for with a check. The City uses a third-party vendor to securely process paper checks.

Checks should be made payable to the City of Dearborn. When you complete the check, write your City account number on the memo line of the check and include the payment stub.

Financial Hardship Available

Those experiencing financial hardship may qualify for assistance through the Wayne Metro WRAP (Water Residential Assistance Program). 

 

Call 313-386-9727 for eligibility and required documents or to apply. 

Automatic Payments

The City of Dearborn offers residents the option to set up automatic payments for water bills with a direct withdrawal from a bank account with ACH Debit (Automated Clearing House). This payment option is free.

 

Residents have the option to cancel their participation in the automatic payment program at any time. 

Report a Sewer Backup/Repair

To report a sewer backup or repair, call 313-943-2150.  The city will send an inspector out to determine if the repair is needed and who is responsible for the cost of the repair, the city or home owner.

Report water main breaks to the Department of Public Works during business hours at 313-943-2150, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

The DPW Water and Sewerage Division provides around-the-clock service for emergency water repairs, drainage and sewerage backups, flooding and other customer service requests.

Report Street or Structure Flooding

Street or basement flooding should be reported to the Department of Public Works during business hours by calling 313-943-2150.

If your basement is flooded, the City will dispatch a maintenance crew to your address to determine if the stoppage is in the City main or your private line. If the sewer main is found to be clear, it is then the responsibility of the property owner to call a licensed plumber or drain service to correct the problem.

Dearborn Consumer Confidence Report (CCR)

The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) summarizes the quality of the water served during the year. The report provides information about the quality of the local drinking water, including but not limited to:

  • - The source of the water
  • - The levels of any contaminants found in the water
  • - Whether the water system is complying with other drinking water rules
  • - A summary of the risk of contamination
  • - Information about the potential health effects of contaminants
  • - Brief educational material
