City Beautiful Commission selects festive displays in 2024 Winter Aglow program

Adding holiday cheer and a welcoming ambiance to Dearborn, 51 homes have been selected by the City Beautiful Commission as top honorees in the Dearborn Aglow: Winter outdoor decorating recognition program.

Three outdoor displays were selected in each of 17 neighborhood districts across the city by commissioners looking at the decorations on Dec. 13-16. 

These 51 honorees will receive a window decal and be invited to a January dinner celebration with Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud.

Another 119 were chosen for honorable mention acknowledgment and will receive a window decal.

The top selections by district are:

Rene Ziaja is the commission chair, and Jackie Cayton and Marcello Pedini are co-chairs of the Aglow programs.

The Dearborn City Beautiful Commission promotes programs to enhance the physical appeal of the community. It presents outdoor decorating awards in spring, fall, and winter in neighborhoods, and the
Standard of Excellence awards for residences and businesses in the summer. It also recognizes residents with noteworthy sustainable gardens. 

The commission encourages recycling, anti-littering campaigns, and environmental sustainability activities with Dearborn students in the spring, building on the long tradition of Clean Up parades.
