Police investigating fatal shooting at Fairlane Town Center

Dearborn Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred at the Fairlane Town Center on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 1:25 p.m.

The shooting resulted in 2 fatalities. One injured person is being treated at a local hospital. All three are believed to be involved in the incident.

Police confirm that the incident stemmed from a dispute between two groups of people and was not a random act of violence. Police confirm no additional threats to the public at this time.

While Police are interviewing persons-of-interest and witnesses, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any further information is strongly encouraged to contact the Police Department at 313-943-2240.

Chief Issa Shahin stated, “The safety of our residents and visitors remains our top priority. Shootings and other acts of violence are entirely unacceptable, and we will hold everyone involved fully accountable. We thank our officers, first responders, regional and federal  law enforcement partners—including the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the Michigan State Police—for their swift response to this serious incident."
