Snow Services

The Department of Public Works will start to plow and salt Emergency routes after 3 inches of snow fall. Residential routes are salted and plowed after emergency routes are cleared. Residents are responsible for removing the snow on their sidewalk in front of their home.

Outdoor Sirens will always Announce Snow Emergencies

  • Outdoor early warning sirens will be activated to signal the beginning of a snow emergency and require residents to move their parked vehicles off the street.
     

  • Parked vehicles left on the street will be ticketed.

Residents can also check to see if a snow emergency is in effect via the following channels. 

  • Text or email messages from Nixle: Residents can sign up to receive alerts at Nixle.com or by texting their 5-digit zip code to 888777
     
  • Call the Snow Emergency Hotline at 313-943-2444
     
  • Check the City of Dearborn website 
     
  • Follow @DearbornGov on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter [X])  

Alternative Parking During Snow Emergencies

Alternative parking is available for city residents, especially those who do not have driveways. 

Parking is available at Levagood Park, Crowley Park, and Ford Field Park. 

Additional streets have been designated for parking in snow emergencies for southeast and northeast Dearborn.
