Police Reports & Records

Police reports may be filed and obtained through the Dearborn Police Department.

Filing a Police Report

A police report is generated when the Dearborn Police Department is dispatched to a location. Reports can also be made at the  Dearborn Police Department’s front desk, 16099 Michigan Ave.

In any case of an emergency, dial 911.

The Police Department offers an Online Reporting option for specific non-emergency incidents. Please read the required criteria before submitting an online report. If the criteria to file a report online are unmet, a report can be made in person at the Police Department.

The Online Reporting System should only be used if the incident fits the following circumstances:

  • - The incident must have occurred within the Dearborn city limits.

  • - There is no suspect information.

  • - There is no evidence that could lead to the identification of a suspect.

  • - Incidents of lost or stolen forms of Identification, including a Drivers License, Social Security Card, Passport,  ATM, Debit, or Credit Card, must be made in person and cannot be made online.

  • - Stolen vehicles, license plates, or firearms must be made in person and cannot be made online.

DO NOT USE if this is an emergency. If there is an emergency, please call 911 immediately.

Requesting a Copy of a Police Report

A report is an official police document that details an incident. To receive a copy of that official police report, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request must be submitted. A FOIA request is a formal request for any public records the Dearborn Police Department has in its possession.

Please Note: FOIA requests may take 5-15 business days to receive a response.

If there are questions about obtaining a copy of a report or about filing a FOIA request, please contact the FOIA unit:

Obtaining a Crash Report

Crash reports are available for purchase online on the Courts and Law Enforcement Management Information System (CLEMIS). Other types of reports are not available on the CLEMIS system and require an official FOIA request through the online portal linked above.
