Dearborn City Beautiful Commission selects households for outstanding curb appeal

The Dearborn City Beautiful Commission has announced the top 51 honorees in the 2026 Residential Standard of Excellence (RSOE) Award program.

Another 450 homes were chosen for honorable mention in the decades-long recognition program. 

RSOE is not a contest, but is a way to highlight residents who value attractive front yard landscaping, gardens, porches, and home facades, and understand the positive impact their care has on the community. 

“Taking pride in your own property is the foundation for keeping our neighborhoods beautiful and our community welcoming,” said RSOE chairperson Diane Rebori. “Sometimes our decisions are very tough, so we appreciate all the efforts of our honorees, as well as everyone across the city who tends to their front yards and homes with style and dedication.”

Three top honorees and 27 honorable mentions were chosen in each of the 17 residential districts created by the commission. Residents at all selected homes will receive a letter and a decal designating their prestigious status. Top honorees also were given a celebratory lawn sign, and will be invited to a dinner with the commission and Mayor Abdullah Hammoud.

The commission also promotes beautification in Dearborn through the Business Standard of Excellence Awards and encourages community spirit through the Spring, Fall, and Winter Aglow outdoor residential decoration awards.

In addition, the commission promotes environmental stewardship through the Sustainable Landscaping recognition program and annual events with Dearborn schools, including Cleanup Parades, tree plantings, and anti-littering campaigns.

The volunteer commissioners are appointed by Mayor Hammoud and serve under his leadership.
