Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

FMLA is a form of continuous (5 or more days) or intermittent (as needed) leave available to employees to care for themselves, an eligible family member or the birth or adoption of a child.  

Employees who may need to take time off of work are encouraged to work with their medical provider to complete an FMLA application and submit it to FMLA@dearborn.gov as soon as possible. The Human Resources team will follow up with you in 5 business days upon receipt of your completed application. 

 

 

Employees may be eligible for FMLA if they have:

  • - Worked for the City of Dearborn at least 12 months and
  • - Worked at least 1250 hours in the last 12 months and
  • - Have (or have a family member who has) a qualifying medical condition or event
