If someone you know takes opioids or prescription opioids, such as Oxycodine or Hydrocodone for pain, be prepared for a possible life-threatening opioid overdose emergency.
Narcan can reverse the effects of the overdose, so it can be life-saving to have with you in the event of an overdose. Think of Narcan as a fire extinguisher - it is good to have around for emergencies.
NARCAN® Nasal Spray is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose emergency.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in NARCAN® Nasal Spray, competes with opioids to bind with the same receptors in the brain to reverse the effects of the overdose.
