Property Damage Claims

If you experienced property damages or losses to personal property, including homes, vehicles, and other property damage/losses not mentioned here, as a result of a sewer backup or a City tree, you may file a property damage claim with the City. 

 

To file a claim, complete the Claim Form and include all applicable documentation, including the following: 

Two repair estimates and photos of the damaged property
Any paid invoices or receipts, vehicle title, registration, insurance policy, and declaration page
Copy of the police report, if applicable
Homeowner’s insurance policy and declarations page (home damage only)
Detailed list of specific items/personal belongings damaged or destroyed

Personal Injury Claims

If you have been injured on City property or the injury was caused by City property or a City employee, you may file a personal injury claim. 

 

It is important to document where the injury occurred, how and why it happened, what caused the injury, and what body parts were injured. Your claim must include the following:

Photos of the injuries; the City property that caused the injury or where the injury occurred.
Two page Medicare/Medicaid form (last two pages of Claim Form).
Paid invoices or receipts.
Copy of the police report, if applicable.

The claim process usually takes 30 to 60 days to complete. If your claim is not resolved after 60 days, please contact the Legal Department via email at rfawaz@dearborn.gov  or call 313-943-2035.

You will receive an acknowledgment email with a claim number. Please include this claim number in all future communications.
