Ford Community & Performing Arts Center

In addition to a pair of gymnasiums, two swimming pools, a fitness area, group exercise studios, meeting rooms, the multi-use Lincoln Ballroom, the Dearborn Senior Center, the Padzieski Gallery, and the 1201-seat Michael A. Guido Theater, the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center also houses the administrative offices of the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department.

Member Information

As a member, you’ll have access to our two swimming pools, fitness area—featuring cardiovascular equipment, treadmills, exercycles, free weights, and weight-training equipment - two gymnasiums and our indoor running track during our facility’s general open hours. You’ll also have access to our extensive aerobics class offerings for a nominal additional fee.

Detroit Medical Center (DMC)

Health Assessment

It’s important to know your current fitness level. This one-hour appointment includes an assessment of blood pressure, resting heart rate, circumference measurements, waist-to-hip ratio, percentage body fat, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and muscular strength.  

 

Included with Center membership. $55 for non-members.

Exercise Program

If you want to know what exercises you should be doing to reach your goals, you may want to consider making an appointment with DMC to have a program created specifically for you. We design exercise programs based upon your past health history, fitness goals, and the results of your health assessment.

Personal Training

Are you looking to revamp your physique?  Do you need some extra motivation? Personal training sessions are one-on-one, in-depth, individually-tailored exercise programs with a certified trainer.  Your availability and goals determine how many sessions are scheduled each week.

Teen Fitness Orientation

Consists of three, one-hour sessions with a DMC trainer. Each session covers various principles of exercise from proper form to basic nutrition. The program is geared toward teens, 13-15 years old. Those successfully completing all three sessions will be allowed to exercise on the fitness floor and attend group exercise classes, providing they are a member or purchase a day pass.  

 

Cost: $75

Physical Therapy

If you have pain that won’t go away, physical therapy may help.  See your primary care physician to obtain a prescription first. Physical therapy is covered by most insurance programs.

Internships Opportunities

The DMC Wellness Center offers internship learning opportunities for students working toward a degree in health and wellness, kinesiology, exercise science, public health, community health or other health-related degree.
