On Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 6 a.m., Dearborn Police responded to the 5000 block of Argyle St following reports of a domestic violence incident. The suspect, identified as 55-year-old Ali Ahmed Zbib of Dearborn, fled to a nearby parking lot where he entered a 2016 Freightline semi tractor.

As officers approached Zbib, he drove the semi tractor into an occupied police vehicle before leaving the parking lot with Dearborn officers in pursuit. The pursuit came to an end at Telegraph and Champaign St in Taylor as a result of his dangerous and erratic driving. Over the next 48 hours, Zbib would continue to elude capture by fleeing from several neighboring jurisdictions.

On June 9, Dearborn Police Special Operations officers located Zbib driving the semi tractor in the city of Detroit. After a lengthy surveillance operation, officers arrested him without further incident.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged Zbib with Assault-Domestic Violence, Malicious Destruction of Police Property, and Fleeing and Eluding. He was arraigned before Honorable Judge Mark Somers of the 19th District Court and issued a $100,000 cash bond along with a GPS tether. A Probable Cause Conference is set for June 18, 2025 and a Preliminary Exam set for June 25.

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin stated, “This individual led officers from multiple area agencies on a dangerous pursuit while driving erratically, putting others in danger. I commend our Special Operations and patrol officers and thank our partner agencies for their cooperation in bringing this suspect to justice.”
