Dearborn Historical Museum’s America 250 Grant

The Historical Museum has obtained an America 250 grant to renovate the Pioneer Schoolroom at the McFadden-Ross House as Dearborn prepares for the nation's 250th anniversary. This program is a cornerstone of history education, providing every second-grader in Dearborn with an immersive experience that aligns with state curriculum standards. With this grant, both physical and interpretive needs can be prioritized, such as improving accessibility for students with mobility challenges and meticulously restoring the classroom’s historical accuracy based on archival records from 1830–1900. This renovation ensures students will continue to have an authentic, tangible connection to the formative years of Michigan’s development for generations to come.
Reading of the Declaration of Independence
Join the Daughters of the Revolution (DAR) at the Dearborn Historical Museum’s McFadden Ross House, 915 Brady St, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 6-6:30 p.m., as they host their first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
