The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center's fitness area opened to members and public on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 after undergoing four weeks of renovations and a remodel.
Improvements at the newly designed facility, located at 15801 Michigan Ave, include multiple upgrades to the fitness area, such as new cardio and strength training equipment, a new, additional workout area on the second level of the gymnasium, and several other facility upgrades, such as:
- New lighting
- New drinking fountains and bottle-filling stations
- New flooring
- New televisions
The renovations also include general updates such as fresh paint and a remodel of the space. The indoor pool, second-floor track, and other amenities remain available. This is the first major renovation of the fitness area at the Center since initially opening to the public in 2001.
Sean Fletcher, Parks and Recreation Director, stated, “We are delighted to unveil much-needed upgrades and state-of-the-art equipment at our fitness area, a significant milestone for Dearborn’s beloved Center. We are proud and excited to share the newly renovated space with our existing fitness community and with anyone new who may be interested in becoming a member or visitor.”
