The City of Dearborn will host a holiday kickoff event for its annual Christmas tree lighting and the city’s newest tradition, Dearborn Wanderlights, on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at PEACE Park West, 22271 W Village Dr.

In 2026, Dearborn Wanderlights will encompass multiple winter events hosted at PEACE Park West, including Jingle Bell Bash on Dec. 12, as the City of Dearborn and the Dearborn Downtown Development Authorities partner to turn the city into a destination for holiday celebration, small business support, and joyful connection.

This year’s kickoff celebration will feature the ceremonial lighting of the City’s 32-foot-tall Christmas tree, decorated with thousands of LED lights and topped with an illuminated star. The tree will also feature a daily light show every hour on the hour from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m..

The event also signifies the start of Wanderlights’ two-month run, with immersive, interactive light exhibits and fun for the whole family.

Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud stated, “PEACE Park West will serve as our Christmas destination where families can gather and make lasting memories. Thousands of vibrant, energy-efficient lights will create immersive, fun  features, along with our annual Christmas tree lighting that will turn the heart of our community into a magical wonderland all season long.”

The event will also include:

  • Live performances by Dearborn Voices & various community groups

  • First come, first served complimentary treats

  • Festive glitter tattoos

  • Santa’s first appearance of the season, including family photo opportunities
