Dearborn celebrates honorees at 73rd Annual Sports Awards Ceremony

The Dearborn Parks & Recreation Commission honored generations of outstanding local athletes and sports enthusiasts and welcomed new inductees into the City’s Sports Hall of Fame & Sports Legends Hall of Fame at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center on Monday, March 23, 2026.
The annual Van Patrick Memorial Award was presented to the top male and female student-athletes of the year from nominees submitted by each of the four high schools in Dearborn. All eight candidates were evaluated and the two winners selected by the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Commission. The 2026 honorees–who were recognized for their extraordinary athletic achievements, classroom accomplishments, and community contributions–are:
- Camryn Huhn from Divine Child High School
- Karl Wolski from Dearborn High School
This year’s Sports Hall of Fame–which honors local athletes for their achievements in sports sponsored by the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department–inductee is:
- Al Jones
New inductees into the Sports Legends Hall of Fame–created to honor local athletes that excel beyond the scope of sports sponsored by the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department–include:
- Jennifer Love Earl
- Megan Gillam
The ceremony also honored the Middle School Student-Athletes of the Year with the Mickey Patrick Award for their successes in the athletic and academic arenas:
- Hanna Hammoud and Hussein Fayad from Bryant
- Eva Solares Vitti and Kyler Denton from Divine Child
- Naveen Souidan and Hussein Saad from Lowrey
- Bayan Shahit and Adam Elgahmi from Salina
- Mia Basshoun and Noah Cloutier from Smith
- Hanna Salameh and Fuad Murshed from Stout
- Noor Charafeddine and Mohamad Hussein from Unis
- Khadijah Alawieh and Yaser Awnallah from Woodworth
New this year was the awarding of the Dr. Kevin Kreger Memorial Team Award–bestowed on the high school team that best exemplifies the combination of teamwork and team success–to the Divine Child Region 4 State Championship football team.
