The Dearborn Police Department has announced the arrest and charging of a fourth suspect in connection with the September 2023 homicide of Hassan Salame.
Salame was shot and killed while exiting a restaurant in the 16000 block of Ford Road. Following a swift investigation, authorities apprehended and charged three individuals with homicide that same month. These individuals are currently awaiting trial at the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center.
Earlier this month, Dearborn Police investigators developed new information, leading to the identification of a fourth suspect, Dawanne Midgett, 35, of Detroit. On March 20, 2025, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office filed the following charges against Midgett:
- Felony Murder
- Felony Firearm (four charges)
- Armed Robbery
- Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery
- Felon in Possession
- Habitual 4th
Midgett was arraigned on March 21, 2025, by the Honorable Judge Sam Salamey at the 19th District Court and remanded to Wayne County Jail without bond. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 2, 2025.
A jury trial for the other defendants, Devon Travon Green, Lindsay Thurmond, and Quenton Goston, originally scheduled for this month, has been adjourned pending Midgett's court proceedings.
Chief Issa Shahin stated, "These charges reflect our department’s unwavering commitment to seeking justice for victims and their families. We will continue to pursue and hold accountable those responsible for violent crimes in our city. I want to commend our investigative team for their dedication and countless hours of work to ensure every suspect in this case was brought to justice."
