Dearborn Police make arrests in March 19 stabbing incident

At about 11 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Dearborn United Dispatch received reports regarding a stabbing in the area of Warren and Schaefer. Dearborn Police Officers responded and arrived at the location within two minutes.

An initial investigation revealed that a group of juvenile males engaged in an argument with two other juvenile males who were walking in the area. The argument escalated when several members of the larger group assaulted one of the individuals. During the confrontation, an individual produced a knife and stabbed a juvenile male multiple times before fleeing the scene. 

Dearborn Police officers arrived at the scene and provided first-aid to the victim until Dearborn Fire Department personnel arrived and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital.

Through a swift and thorough investigation, Dearborn Police quickly identified and apprehended two 15-year-old male suspects. The victim, a 16-year-old male, is currently in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

A warrant request has been submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office – Juvenile Division for review. Both suspects are in custody, held at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility.

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin stated, "While we are relieved that the victim is expected to survive, this incident highlights the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully. Our officers acted quickly to provide life-saving aid and apprehend a suspect, but we must continue to work together as a community to ensure our young people understand the consequences of violence and choose a better path."
