The City of Dearborn today announced its participation in a new community engagement initiative, “Ideas for Change,” in partnership with Change.org, to empower residents to help shape the future of their community.
Through this initiative, Dearborn residents will have the opportunity to share ideas, identify community priorities, and collaborate on solutions to local challenges. The effort is designed to foster inclusive civic dialogue and empower residents to share their ideas for Dearborn’s future.
Residents are invited to submit ideas and provide feedback on submissions from March 23, through April 19, 2026. Following the submission period, Change.org will analyze community input and identify the most resonant ideas. A diverse group of Dearborn residents will then be convened to develop the most resonant idea into actionable proposals for city consideration.
Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud emphasized the importance of community voice in local decision-making, “This city was built on an idea for change. Since its founding, Dearborn has continued to put forward bold, innovative ideas to move our region forward. The Ideas for Change survey builds on this by inviting residents to share their vision for the future of our city. We welcome the feedback and look forward to seeing proposed ideas.”
Duncan Lockard, General Manager for Civic Dialogues at Change.org, added, “This initiative provides a space for residents to not only share ideas, but to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration. We are committed to ensuring broad participation across Dearborn’s diverse communities.”
The City of Dearborn is working with local partners, including community organizations, neighborhood associations, business leaders, and civic leaders, to encourage participation and ensure that voices from across the city are represented.
A live video-based discussion about the findings will occur on Thursday, May 28, at 6 p.m. The ideas generated through this process will be reviewed by City leadership to explore opportunities for implementation and support.
Residents can participate by visiting Dearborn.gov/Surveys.
