Community Mutual Aid Fair brings resources, workshops, and connection to Dearborn Public Library

The Dearborn Public Library, in partnership with the Dearborn Area Mutual Aid Network (DAMAN), will host a Community Mutual Aid Fair on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 1-4 p.m. at the Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Ave.

This free, all-ages event invites community members to gather for an afternoon of care, learning, and connection. Visitors will have access to nonperishable food, hygiene supplies, clothing, and harm reduction resources, as well as a freshly prepared hot meal.

The fair will also feature hands-on activities designed to foster creativity and skill-sharing, including a mending table, a Tatreez embroidery circle, and a craft workshop. Attendees can connect with local mutual aid groups and participate in a “Know Your Rights” workshop focused on engaging with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“This event reflects what public libraries are all about — meeting people where they are and responding to the real needs of our community,” stated Patricia Podzikowski, Interim Director of the Dearborn Public Library. “By partnering with local mutual aid organizations, we’re creating a space that is welcoming, supportive, and rooted in care, connection, and shared responsibility.”

The Community Mutual Aid Fair underscores the Dearborn Public Library’s commitment to being an accessible, inclusive community hub that fosters civic engagement and mutual support. All are welcome to attend — whether seeking resources, opportunities to learn, or meaningful connection with neighbors.

Out of respect for individual privacy and safety, attendees are kindly asked to refrain from photographing event visitors. Attendees are also encouraged to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth to help protect community members during the height of cold and flu season.
