Dearborn Hills reopens full golf course and new restaurant

Published April 24, 2025

For the first time since 2021, Dearborn Hills has opened the full 18-hole golf course after the City of Dearborn closed off a portion of the historic course to repair weather-related damages. Michigan’s oldest public golf course now also features a new clubhouse restaurant joining Dearborn's culinary scene.

Jordan Al, Dearborn Hills Manager, stated, “It’s incredibly exciting to welcome golfers back to the full course. This reopening is the result of years of hard work by the City and our team to restore this historic course. We’re proud to see Dearborn Hills return as a destination for both longtime players and new visitors.”

This season marks a major milestone in the City’s restoration of the 102 year old golf course. After widespread flooding in 2021 caused significant water damage to the grounds and contributed to logjams along the nearby Rouge River, the City temporarily closed the golf course to begin repairs. The course remained closed through 2022 as crews focused on restoring drainage systems, stabilizing the riverbank, and improving course infrastructure. In 2023, half of the course was reopened in honor of its 100th anniversary, while work was continued to restore the remaining holes.

After a competitive bidding process, Birdies Restaurant has been introduced as a new addition to the golf course, featuring an elevated menu of clubhouse favorites. Following their soft opening in February, the restaurant is open for dine-in Tuesday through Sunday between 4 and 10 p.m. Reservations may be made through the online reservation software Resy.com
