Dearborn to host community events in June to gather input, shape future development of the city

Published June 13, 2025

The City of Dearborn will host five community listening sessions across the city in June to hear from residents on the City’s proposed Master Land Use Plan. The sessions, which continue on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, will seek input to guide development in five key districts: East and West Downtown, Warren Avenue corridor, the South End, and the Fairlane Mall redevelopment.

In 2024, Dearborn began the process of revising its Master Land Use Plan, prioritizing resident engagement to shape the city's development goals for the next five to ten years. A component of drafting the Master Land Use Plan resulted in coordinating five Plan Dearborn Community events to help City of Dearborn officials focus on land use priorities that are most important to the residents in each district.

The community listening events will be held in English and Arabic and feature food and beverages, an opening presentation on the Master Land Use Plan, and stations for residents to share feedback. Sessions include:

  • - East Downtown Dearborn: Tuesday, June 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Arab American National Museum, 13524 Michigan Ave
  • - Warren Ave: Wednesday, June 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Al-Huda Islamic Center Gymnasium, 8835 W Warren Ave
  • - West Downtown Dearborn: Tuesday, June 24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at PEACE Park West, 22271 W Village Dr
  • - South End: Wednesday, June 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the ACCESS Gymnasium, 2651 Saulino Ct

Dearborn Director of Economic Development, Jordan Twardy, stated, “Dearborn’s Master Plan update is about creating a shared vision for Dearborn’s future. This effort aims to achieve sustainable growth, improve quality of life, and build on Dearborn’s vibrant public spaces. These sessions will serve as a comprehensive guide for decision making regarding various aspects of the city, encompassing development, green infrastructure, and transportation.”
