Ten Eyck neighborhood pool to open Wednesday, Aug. 6

Published Aug. 6, 2025

After 15 months of bath house, pool deck, and filtration system reconstruction, the Ten Eyck neighborhood pool will reopen on Wednesday, Aug. 6, after undergoing major renovations for the first time since its original construction in the 1950s. Admission to the Ten Eyck pool will be free to all residents for the remainder of the swim season.

Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud stated, “Our ongoing commitment is to enhance the safety and accessibility of our community pools. We are excited for the opening of the first renovated pool at Ten Eyck, and are dedicated to ensuring that every Dearborn resident can enjoy a truly positive and memorable experience at these vital neighborhood amenities.”

In April 2024, the Dearborn City Council unanimously approved a $5,371,430 contract to rehaul public pools and bathhouses at Ten Eyck, Lapeer, and Summer Stephens parks.  The neighborhood pools initiative included a comprehensive review of all safety protocols, the implementation of new accessible features such as ramps and lifts, and the continuous upkeep of facilities to the highest standards. The project is funded by the City’s Park Equity and Access for Citizen Engagement (PEACE) Project, a $6 million grant award administered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Key Construction, a Dearborn-based company, managed all renovations.

While Summer Stephens and Lapeer pools are yet to be completed, Dunworth and Ford Woods pools and the City’s four splash pads will remain open for residents to enjoy. Lapeer and Summer Stephens pools are expected to open later this summer.

Adults and seniors with proof of Dearborn residency can purchase pool tags for admittance to Dunworth and Ford Woods pools at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center service desk, 15801 Michigan Ave. Children ages 13 and under can swim at City of Dearborn pools free of charge, thanks to an initiative introduced by Mayor Hammoud in 2022.
