Dearborn to distribute dry ice to residents, until supplies last, during widespread power outages

DEARBORN, MI – The Dearborn Fire and Police Departments will distribute dry ice to residents outside the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center on Saturday, July 4, 2026, starting at 6 p.m., while supplies last.

The distribution will take place at the south parking lot of the Center. The Center is located at 15801 Michigan Ave.

The weekend’s heavy storms have produced power outages across the city. The dry ice is available to residents only, and proof of residency will be required. Dry ice will be distributed until supplies last.

Residents are encouraged to bring a cooler for the safe transport of the dry ice.

As of early Saturday, DTE Energy noted approximately 330,000 total customers lost power as a result of the storms. One-third of those outages were restored before 6:00 a.m. today. DTE expects to have 60% of outages restored by the end of the day.
