Four City of Dearborn spaces, including two independent living, senior apartment buildings, the Dearborn Historical Museum offices, and the rotunda gallery at the Henry Ford Centennial Library have unveiled new names after notable community members.
On Sept. 24, 2024, the Dearborn City Council approved Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud’s resolution to rename City spaces after community members to honor their impactful and lasting contributions to the city.
Mayor Hammoud stated, “We’re proud to recognize individuals whose work and commitment have left a lasting mark on our city. By honoring those who’ve shaped the Dearborn community, we ensure their legacy continues to inspire generations to come.”
This week, new signs were unveiled at the following Dearborn sites:
The City’s senior housing building in East Dearborn has been renamed to recognize Suzanne Sareini, the first Arab-American elected to the Dearborn City Council, who served the community faithfully and with distinction for 24 years. A ceremony for the renaming of Suzanne Sareini Manor, previously called Hubbard Manor East, will take place this summer. The renaming of Sarieni Manor marks the first City of Dearborn building named in honor of a female leader.
More information about the building renaming ceremonies will be made available at Dearborn.gov and on City social media platforms.
