The City of Dearborn will host dozens of community events throughout the summer season, prioritizing community engagement, local business growth, and enhanced walkability in its downtown areas. These efforts include strategic road closures on West Village Drive, designed to create safer pedestrian zones and foster a lively atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Dearborn Summer Market returns with a new home

A cornerstone of Dearborn's summer festivities is the Dearborn Summer Market, located in West Downtown Dearborn. This year, the market will move to its new home at PEACE Park West, 22271 West Village Dr. Dearborn’s Summer Market kicked off its first event on Friday, June 13, 2025. The City will host two additional Summer Market days on July 11 and Aug 8.

The Dearborn Summer Market, hosted by the West Dearborn Downtown District Authority, showcases businesses and facilitates their growth and visibility while simultaneously drawing the community and visitors to the downtown areas to explore the fantastic brick-and-mortar establishments surrounding these activated spaces. The market features local vendors, free kids' activities, and resource tables from regional organizations.

The Summer Market event series at PEACE Park West is set to be the largest vendor gathering the park has hosted to date, featuring 40-plus vendors throughout the season offering a diverse array of goods and services. Some 60 percent of market vendors are Dearborn-based businesses.

The Dearborn Summer Market offers a wealth of free activities for families, including face painting, balloon twisting, games, caricature art, and various crafts. Attendees can also look forward to live music and programming at the market, including free concerts and more.

West Village Drive pedestrian zone

West Village Drive in West Downtown Dearborn will continue to experience road closures periodically throughout the summer between Mason Street and Howard Street to enhance public safety, boost walkability, and further activate West Downtown Dearborn to more easily connect diverse local businesses with patrons over the summer months. During the Dearborn Summer Market, West Village Drive will also be closed between Howard Street and Tenny Street. This closure will not impede the accessibility of the parking deck structures adjacent to PEACE Park West.
